We’ve all seen them a million times… email spoofing and phishing. It’s when hackers trick users into thinking an email is coming from a legitimate source (Amazon, Apple, LinkedIn, etc.) to capture sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, credit card information, and in some cases take control of your computer. But, spoofing and phishing can be tough to catch!
So, Genius on the Go gave us their three tips on how to identify a scam like this and keep your information from getting stolen:
• If you are not expecting the email, do not click any links in the body. Instead, go directly to official company website to access your account.
• Verify the full email address of the sender, especially the second part after the @ sign. If it doesn’t look legitimate, it most likely isn’t.
• Take a screenshot and talk to tech support.
