How many kids do you each have and what are their ages?
Dean, 5, Della 2, Dylan 1)

What are your favorite family activities on the CT Shoreline?
We love going to farms, playgrounds, and hiking trails where the kids can get their energy out and we can all be outside. We also love checking out local events on the weekends—whether it’s a festival, an art show, or informal gathering at a playground, there’s always something family-friendly happening on the weekends, especially during the warm weather months.

What do you love about living on the CT Shoreline?
Being near the water is so special—even in the winter, driving by Long Island Sound can still take my breath away. We also love the community feel of the area and how family-friendly so many businesses and establishments are. The area really comes alive in the summer, and we feel so lucky to live here.

Tell us about your involvement planning the Little Folks Fair in Guilford.
This year I am co-chair of the Little Folks Fair with two of my colleagues and friends (Laura Bell & Jess Herrington). We are responsible for planning and managing everything, from the parent volunteers who put on the fair, to business sponsorships and everything in between. The Little Folks Fair benefits the Community Nursery School, a non-profit co-op in Guilford. The school’s entire financial aid fund is dependent on the success of the fair, so it’s a big deal! We truly believe that every child should have access to a play-based education, and it’s why we are so committed to ensuring this fair is a success so that we can offer that opportunity to any family who wants it.

What can we expect this year?
We will have the usual beloved attractions like the petting zoo, donkey rides, inflatable slides, bounce houses, circus games, and more! This year we are also adding mini golf, an obstacle course, and balloon animals. We brought back the silent auction and have lots of fun prizes like 2 round-trip tickets from Avelo Airlines, a round of golf and lunch at Pine Orchards Country Club, a flower subscription from Balsam + Berry, and personal training sessions from Forever Fit. Lots of food trucks are already committed and new to the fair this year is Sully’s Good Humor Ice Cream Truck, which is sure to be a favorite! And finally, we have an amazing line up of entertainment, including a magic show by Jeff Horton, dance performances by Limelite Dance Studio, and music from Take Two And Call Me In The Morning, a local jam band featuring Dr. Rob Nolfo of Guilford Pediatrics! We think the kids will get a real kick out of seeing their doctor performing on stage!

What do you love about this event?
I love that it’s all about joy, fun, and community-building. It’s a day for families to come to the Green and have an amazing time while supporting an important cause. I think it’s also so impressive that the fair is put on entirely by parent volunteers which is a great opportunity for families at our school to build relationships and connections that will last.

Tell us about your business, BLS Research & Consulting.
I run a full-service market research consultancy that I started back in 2016. I lead research engagements for brands, nonprofits, and political candidates and love my work! It’s really all about psychology and understanding what motivates someone—whether it’s to buy toothpaste or vote for a political candidate, there’s always a reason deep down why people do what they do, and it’s my job to uncover those insights.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another mom?
“You’re doing great.” I remember one of my friends told me that after complaining of my struggles in the first few months after my first baby was born. I wasn’t doing great, but hearing her say that reminded me that I was trying my best and sometimes that’s enough.
